What it does

This automation watches a column for changes. When it’s updated, it sends the text to an AI service (Gemini) with your prompt and writes the response into another column. Use it to summarize feedback, notes, or descriptions — categorize, translate, or extract key points just by changing the prompt.

How to set it up

  1. Install Sheet Automation from the Google Workspace Marketplace and open it from your sheet.
  2. Decide which column holds the source text (e.g. A) and where the summary should go (e.g. B).
  3. Pick the “Summarize a row with AI” template, set the source column and your prompt.
  4. Save, then update the source column to test — the AI summary appears in the result column.

FAQ

Can I change the prompt?
Yes. Edit the request text to summarize, translate, classify, or extract — and reference cells with placeholders like {column_A}.
Where does the AI response go?
Into the result column you set in the template (e.g. column B), on the same row.
Which AI does it use?
This template uses Gemini. The prompt and result column are fully configurable.
Do I need Zapier or Make?
No. Sheet Automation runs inside Google Sheets, so there’s no third-party connector to pay for or maintain.
